 Welcome to Lakeshore Writer’s Group

Monday, September 19th, 2022 @ 7:00pm.

MEETING OUTLINE

Hello, everyone! I’m sure we have some literary catching up to do. I hope everyone has enjoyed the

summer months and is ready to start another round of Writers!

Let’s welcome our newest members, Orla, Kaki, Linda, and Seamus. We look forward to meeting each

of you, and seeing everyone again from last time! Let’s get started…

➢ Welcome and Introductions:

We will go around the room and (re)introduce ourselves. (mostly we are familiar with each

other, but this benefits our newest members…) Think of how you will answer these questions:

1. What brings you to the group?

2. What is your writing preference/genre?

3. Is writing your hobby or a serious endeavor?

4. What do you hope to get out of this time?

5. Tell us one good thing that happened to you lately!

➢ Ground Rules:

See attachment.

➢ Warm-up Exercise and Read Back:

To be announced.

➢ Who brought work to share? -this is a good opportunity for receiving feedback on any

writing you’ve done.

➢ Trivia

➢ Just For Fun Homework…To be done in preparation for the first meeting! Let’s go back to

the 4th grade when on the first day back to school the teacher assigned a paper on “What I Did

On My Summer Vacation”. You guessed it. That’s our homework! (I can hear you all whining.)

Here’s the thing: It only has to be a couple of short paragraphs long, and include lots of

adjectives!

When preparing for our meeting(s), I asked my granddaughter off the cuff if she had any ideas for

topics for the writer’s. She’s a reader and in the next grade level in Language Arts. She thought a

minute and said, “Self esteem?”. Interesting, I thought, but not what I was looking for. On second

thought though, it seemed like just the topic to start off with; Writer’s Self-Esteem.

**NEXT MEETING is MONDAY, OCTOBER 17th at 7:00pm.** (Marilyn please check

me on that)
