There is a rise and fall of emotions
The brass blares and the drums pound then the bass
creeps along and a trumpet spews wisdom|
It is all a riddle
It is a fascination
A shaman, a spiritual healer, unleashes nature,
focused and blasted powerfully with rhythmic clicks in the background
The crowd starts to shake and pulse and tremble and
fall
The music is magic and moves them in ways that are
unforeseen and unforgiving but reveal
Tenderness and discovery and memorable
words/sounds/OMG/orgasms/batshitbabblings of genius
A single extra-long night turns into 27 drug-fueled
sessions and maybe
The magic is the drugs
Maybe everyone’s veins run on drugs and magic
Maybe the drugs tap into the potential of the body and
brain in each musician and engineer and producer and dancer, and unleash the
magic
Then the magic is cut just right and sold by the
millions
the magic is
illusions, delusions, hallucinations flowing directly from the speakers
Infecting us all
Making us all
Magic

Do You Believe in Mag
Do You Believe in Magic?
When Luka darts gracefully past an opponent
Spins beautifully, bounces the ball impossibly and
wills a shot to swish
Through the basket
Everyone in the arena and watching on television knows
he can conquer all things on the basketball court
There is strength and determination and leadership and
fiery foreign words
Our jaws drop during daring movements and we marvel at
his vision and anticipation that rivals an eagle
When Sidney defies gravity to balance on ice
his coordination better than a gods
braving pain, agreeing to lose teeth and skin, in
order to make the puck travel
in ways physicists can’t explain
making hearts rejoice and economies boom with seconds
of Herculean effort
They both smile grander than a wonder of the world
they wink and blow kisses to a power who let them
unleash unthinkable acts
And magic definitely courses through their veins

Just for the Fun of It
Just for the Fun of It
They all dress up in bright pink costumes and
There is the military march of magic and madness
A huge sound swells
A voice calls down
winners are picked
and given prizes – licks, candlesticks, fiddlesticks, trips to Tunisia, golden breasts, platinum balls, disco balls, cornstarch, candy, crochet lessons, cock enhancements, cock fighting, cock tastings, magic and madness
Someone yells out “It’s not enough”
They are smothered to death in sausage gravy
The entire crowd (of 3, or 3 million, people, or
cockroaches and fairies) are handed one perfectly cooked sausage link each –
magically the exact size and cooked to the exact specifications the receiver
wants – and sent home to either tells their friends or never talk about it
again
